Just added images and event coverage from my class reunion for my 50th reunion.
I'm how old? ...look under under 1968 several decades?
....hair is lightening in color and seem to be thinning? roof line - salt and pepper (brown and gray) and some age spots - should have used more sun screen in early days - or hereditary?
This site is a collection of some of the professional associations I've attended or was a member of and/or became a elected "President" of all I was involved in.
I've attended other professional and motivational and diversity classes to learn and expand my career goals as a professional video producer and staff photographer and corporate department manager.
Further encouragement came from parents. At times they assisted me in my business ventures and always were proud of my successes.
For: Mom - 2015 (Darlene) passed away on 8/11/2015 for she was one of those stay at home moms all during school years (think about it - 3 TV channels of over the air and soap operas/game shows and phone calls/gossip all day, cubs scouts and church camp for the Presbyterian gang and rug rats of the 50's and early 60's). Mom sang a lot of songs in Presbyterian church choir as soloists with Eloise J. - organists and Pat S.-the choir director and Rev. M. and his family - who happen to have children about my age and I think three (Joy, Kathy and Ruthie and a son Jim)?
We had a fine choir in those days and a church that was physically leaning towards Charles W. house and Wimpys parking lot due to hill shifting.
Mom then broke the 60's mold of housewives at home and went to work in 1965 at Western Electric in Millard/Omaha. And all the uncertainties of the 60's and Cold War and planes from SAC flying overhead B 52's all the time...we made it thru and lost fine leaders. Where were you when JFK was assassinated (I remember the class I was in at PHS) or the Moon landings and all those early morning Cape Canaveral launches with on TV morning news.
Dad in 1980's (Donald - called Don)) who enjoyed farming/John Deere farm equipment and fast pitch softball, bowling a the Bowlero Bowl with Bill B./manager-owner along with plant friends and duck and coyote hunting with the farmers (from Murray) in his pickup truck with a CB radio and gun rack.
Dad (called Don or Dod) from the Donald he was, besides then working in my school years for Allied Chemical (full time for 15 years) and their odd shifts of 2 weeks on each shift, no wonder I remember where the "graveyard" term came from 12-8 am...
The John Deere - Stander Implement Company (part time) and Hugh L. S. (owner) - fine and compassionate man who gave me my first paying job working in the parts department behind the counter with a Lloyd ? who lived in Murray and a lot of great memories of Hugh's John Deere business - Hugh S. (deceased in 67 ).
He and had a son (Billy - deceased in '65 about 2 years older the me, and daughter (Linda about 5 years older than myself who is still alive) and his 2nd wife (Pat - deceased in the 80's) was the choir director of the Presbyterian Church by the old Wimpy's cafe across from OFE Mobil oil company, along with the M's as minister and his family. The church parking and the National guard building off of Chicago Ave. and the Church.
Mom and I sang in in those years in at Plattsmouth Presbyterian Church and I went to the church summer camps. I had the opportunity to maintain the LARGE lawn (acres) and the newer Presbyterian Sunday School on Chicago avenue which I mowed grass for in 64-69 on my L&G John Deere L&G 110 tractor and mower and the smaller hilly lawn at the church near downtown Plattsmouth . The family resided in Plattsmouth from 1951 - 1970 and all the houses we lived in are still standing in Plattsmouth, along with some of the grade/high school
Also in those days, mid 60's the. CB radio was just the in thing, you had a base station and a radio in all your cars, along with a call sign (requirements for FC call sign were 18 year, so all of us younger under 18 years old, had our fathers sign up for the license, and the family could use that call sign. Several of us 1968 grads- were on the air, the ones I remember were: Jim Dietz - KNH 7581, Mike Stastka KNH ???? and Steve KPH 2994 (me) class of 1968 graduates, for we all started in the mid 1964-65 with our radio...Jim had a chrome plated Courier 23, Mike had a Regency Range Gain II, and I had a Eico Sentinel 23 all were base stations and ran on tube technology. Thats another whole story on what we did and what extras we had along with our parents cars and mpbile transistor models and alll. the great acquaintances we meet in CB radio land.
I will share information on all my involvements and success stories, and awards that I have accomplished for my years. Now the goal is...(since retiring from the corporation in 2001) to look at the "get involved". Many new hobbies to consider from website enhancements to collecting VERY and delicate collectible farm toys and going to REAL tractor shows and community involvement and volunteering .organizing luncheons for 60+ people and always enhancing the game of "GOLF", and acquiring some new hobbies of music talent (playing piano) like I did these things in the mid 60's and coin collecting just let go - re acquired until recent.
Being fortunate at retirement at only an age of over 50+ ... the challenge to clean out some closets and as we all love to do .... relive the past, and create a "back then" website of the things I enjoyed doing, YET still a few accomplishments are waiting to be accomplished ...
(more learning and study for more test/classes) - can anyone know everything?
If you happen upon this site and were involved in any of these professional groups or classes, and wish to share or have any information (newsletters) to share ... please contact me. I think you'll agree ...if you and I were both their...
we assisted in that "group" success !
(all submitted papers, video, photographs are returned...I just need to scan them)
PLEASE view all the main titles and their associated "drop down menus" to see where I've been. As to where to go... only time and motivation will tell.
Steve Miller-Admin/retired/always learning and a person of interest...and gets things DONE
I've added some photographs from various past events, hobbies and other events, in hoping you'll remember those in the images, and that some of them have "left us".
