My FIRST conference Chairman and a MUCH better organized brochure... spent many minutes organizing layout with Adobe InDesign software...
My first conference chairman position as then President-Elect position on this board. Packed alot into, and some "FIRST" for this group. In this time frame, it was usually an evening of state talent on Saturday - My idea was a FULL DAY - Saturday with a speaker whose credentials still draw attendance in 2015. Only flaw - no meal provided for her program, yet the class had a full attendance to fit the room of 40+ that event, and traditionally Saturday's were a busy time for most studios... a change in attitude for the membership, and the fact she was the National affiliate President that year as Professional Photographers of America Inc.... may have helped? 2008 Conference
As this (my second as chairman) Conference Chairman - duties (speaker transportation, speaker contracts, schedules, meals, prices, photos, program listing/descriptions and even designing and printing the flyer) and MANY sponsors for the programs, plus handout material for the membership at the conference.
(my p.o.v.) A lot of hard and diligent work not missing any details gave this conference a great turnout and lots of useful and relevant at that time programs for our membership to participate in...with the board approval... SHOULD I have said "TRUST ME"? It also was on my birthday, so we had cake and I was only 58, oh to be ....? additionally it was Roger Elrod's son (Ryan) birthday also. - lucky him. Maybe I can find the photographs of that day? Check that section for any images. |
As President of Professional Photographers of Nebraska in 2006, I had no "conference", yet next inline officers were the past president and future president elect to schedule and duties to perform...scheduled this event for 2006. These were "postcard" flyers that were mailed and distributed to local and statewide perspective members and mailed as reminders to our membership.

- Heart of America Expo and Conference: A gathering of the four midwest/plains states for many years from - Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas (M.I.N.K.) for a every other year in the 1975 -2008 ?. Suggestions were to change to a yearly event in the early 2000's and beyond. It's demise was ...the economy, and possibly other circumstances and costs. Yet in it's existence of many years, it brought the four states together for education, print competition sanctioned by the national group PPA (yet paid for locally), and many new friends and fellowship, fun with usually a very large trade show.

Probably the last HOA convention in 2011 ? ....maybe someday a revitalized version will bring the four original states back together?
