Word of "information in scanning"!
Although the "best solution" would be to disassemble each book and scan individually each page to make it as FLAT as possible...I choose to not disassemble the books, newsletter or other scanned items. The simple solution is to lay them on the flat bed scanner and close the scanner door.
Therefore you will not in the center of most san, a "bump" where it bubbles up, and the scanner can not flatten it to make it all consistent in scanning. All scanners have a flat glass bed, yet their are professional book scanners to eliminate this problems with a seam is present is also is a glass format with scanning LED under the glass, I can not stand on it or hold my hand on it to make to scan the "bump" out.
